Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading

The assessment criteria in the program are structured mainly as theoretical courses, laboratory studies, and practical studies. At least one midterm examination and one final examination are held for each course during the semester. Depending on the nature of the course, the instructor may conduct educational activities such as quizzes, homework, projects, field studies, etc. Instructors are free to change the weighting of the midterm examination, final examination, quiz, project, etc. activities when evaluating achievement. For each course, one of the following letters is given to students as the achievement grade. The letters and their coefficients are as follows:
Students who have incomplete practical work in a course or whose achievement grade cannot be determined within the grade submission period because they are required to take a make-up examination are given an E grade. A student who receives an E grade completes any missing work, if applicable, and takes the make-up examination within ten days at the latest following the announcement of the grades. The decision to extend this period is made by the administrative board of the relevant unit. E grades that are not extended by a decision of the administrative board of the relevant unit or replaced by another grade within fifteen days are automatically converted to an F1 grade. An S grade is given for internships or practical courses conducted outside the academic semester calendar. This grade is converted into one of the achievement grades by a decision of the administrative board of the relevant unit no later than the end of the add/drop period of the following academic semester.
