Learning Outcomes

At the end of this course, the students;

  1. Describes the basic anatomical structures and physiological functioning of the nervous system.
  2. Describes the language production, perception, hearing, and motor speech centers in the brain, and the neural networks between these centers.
  3. Understands the importance of neuroimaging techniques such as fMRI, EEG, and PET in language and speech research.
  4. Analyzes the neurobiological basis of neurogenic communication disorders such as aphasia, dysarthria, and apraxia.
  5. Gains the ability to use neuroscientific data and clinical research findings in evidence-based therapy approaches.
Mode of DeliveryFace to face
PrerequisitesNo
Recommended Optional Programme ComponentsNone
Course DescriptionThis course examines the anatomical and physiological structure of the nervous system, focusing on the mechanisms of language, speech, voice, hearing, and swallowing. It covers concepts of cognitive neuroscience, models of language processing in the brain, and the clinical implications of neurological damage for communication disorders.
