Learning Outcomes

At the end of this course, the students;

  1. Learn material bulk structure characterizations and describe the range of tests
  2. Select appropriate test methods depend on cases
  3. Understand fundamental concepts related to biocompability, biological performance of materials used in medical devices and biomaterials
  4. Learn biological performance testing strategy and certifications
  5. Capable of presentation written report
Mode of DeliveryFace to face

Recommended Optional Programme ComponentsNone
Course DescriptionThis course has two parts. In the first part, it will focus on material bulk structure characterizations such as IR, Raman Spectroscopy, Xray diffractions, Polarisation techniques, refractometry and conductivity measurement (DC or AC). In the second part, it will focus on biocompability tests and encourage student learning in the field of biocompatibility, with emphasis on understanding biological responses to the broad range of invasive medical devices and materials available.
