About the Programme

General Information

Founded in 1996, the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering at Başkent University aims to educate engineers who are capable of applying theoretical knowledge in practice, developing solutions to engineering problems, and contributing to technological advancements. The Electrical and Electronics Engineering Program, which offers 100% English-medium instruction within the department, commenced its educational activities in the 2020-2021 academic year. An application for MÜDEK accreditation has been submitted for our program, and the evaluation process is currently ongoing.

Academic Staff
As of 2026, our department consists of 7 professors, 5 associate professors, 6 assistant professors, 2 lecturers with doctoral degrees, and 7 research assistants. Under the guidance of our academic staff, students have the opportunity to apply the knowledge they acquire in their courses to project and research activities and to further develop themselves in their areas of interest.

Graduation Projects
In their graduation projects, our students develop solutions to problems related to electrical and electronics engineering and gain experience in the stages of design, implementation, testing, and evaluation of results. Student projects are also carried out in our department with the support of institutions such as defense industry companies and TÜBİTAK, enabling students to transform their research ideas into tangible outcomes under the supervision of their academic advisors. This process contributes not only to their project preparation and management skills but also to the development of their teamwork and technical presentation competencies. Some of our students who successfully complete these stages have also obtained patents.

Internships and Industry Experience
Our students complete two separate internships, each lasting 20 working days, allowing them to observe the industrial applications of electrical and electronics engineering firsthand. These internships help students relate the knowledge they acquire at the university to real working environments, observe engineering processes, and identify their professional areas of interest.

Candidate Engineer Programs
Third- and fourth-year students may participate in candidate engineer programs provided that they meet the application and admission requirements set by the respective companies. These programs enable students to gain industry experience while continuing their education, work with professional teams, and become familiar with professional life before graduation.

Erasmus+
Within the framework of current agreements and application requirements, our students may benefit from Erasmus+ study and traineeship mobility opportunities to gain academic and professional experience abroad. These experiences support students in becoming familiar with different cultures and engineering approaches, improving their foreign language skills, and establishing international connections.

Career Opportunities
Our graduates are expected to undertake engineering and managerial positions in research and development, production, maintenance, and testing departments of national and international organizations. Graduates may also continue their careers at research institutions and universities or take part in the business world by establishing their own enterprises or developing partnerships.
