Learning Outcomes

At the end of this course, the students;

  1. Use atomic mass, molecular mass, mole concept, Avogadro's number, chemical formula, and percentage composition ratios in chemical calculations.
  2. Determine the simple and molecular formulas of the compounds.
  3. Write the oxidation states of atoms in compounds and ions.
  4. Balance chemical reactions and use reaction stoichiometry in chemical calculations.
  5. Calculate the concentration in aqueous solutions.
  6. Draw Lewis structures and molecular geometries of ions and molecule and specify the hybridization schemes and bonding patterns of central atoms.
