Course DescriptionENG 200 is a course that aims to develop Academic and Professional English (English for Specific Purposes - ESP) skills at the B2+ level and requires ENG 199 as a prerequisite. The course focuses on the integrated development of reading, listening, and speaking skills as well as academic language use. ENG 200 also focuses on developing productive skills, such as speaking, in an integrated manner with critical thinking skills. An important component of the course is to enhance students' language proficiency in terms of semantic, lexical, and structural aspects. One of the main objectives of the course is to support engineering students in developing their language skills by focusing on vocabulary related to both academic and professional fields and language use in field-specific contexts. Within the scope of the course, students develop their ability to follow different listening materials, identify main ideas and supporting details, and critically evaluate the content they listen to. The course covers topics such as technology, artificial intelligence, heat, and energy. Students are also encouraged to engage in independent learning activities. In addition, students prepare and deliver a video presentation on a topic related to their field of study.
