At the end of this course, the students;

  1. Explains the basic characteristics of out-of-school learning environments.
  2. Explains different out-of-school learning environments.
  3. Relates out-of-school learning environments to the curriculum.
  4. Explains the contributions of out-of-school learning environments to the teaching and learning process.
  5. Explains the instructional methods and techniques related to out-of-school learning environments.
  6. Designs out-of-school learning activities.
  7. Plans out-of-school learning environments in alignment with the learning outcomes of primary school curricula.
  8. Implements instructional activities in out-of-school learning environments.

Course DescriptionConcepts of out of school learning; content and importance of out of school learning; instruction in out of schools; methods, techniques (project based learning, station technique etc) and instructional materials convenient for out of school learning environments; out of school learning environments (museums, science centers, zoos, botanic, gardens, planetariums, industrial institutions, national parks, science festivals, science camps, natural settings); development of out of school environments; planning, practice and evaluation of out of school activities.

2nd Week Concepts of out-of-school learning and education scope and importance of out-of-school learning
3rd Week Teaching in out-of-school environments museums, science centers, botanical gardens
4th Week Teaching in out-of-school environments planetariums, national parks, science festivals, science camps, natural settings
5th Week Methods and techniques used in out-of-school learning environments
6th Week Research on out-of-school learning in the literature
7th Week Planning out-of-school teaching activities
8th Week Midterm exam
9th Week Designing out-of-school learning activities
10th Week Designing out-of-school learning activities
11th Week Designing lesson plans for out-of-school learning based on the curriculum
12th Week Designing lesson plans for out-of-school learning based on the curriculum
13th Week Presentation of out-of-school learning environment applications
