Studies and Graduation
Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading
The evaluation criteria in the program are structured primarily around theoretical courses, laboratory work, and practical work. For each course, at least one midterm exam and one final exam are administered each semester. Depending on the nature of the course, the instructor may assign teaching activities such as quizzes, homework, projects, fieldwork, etc., during the semester. Instructors are free to adjust the weightings used to evaluate student performance based on midterm exams, final exams, quizzes, projects, and similar activities. Students who have not completed the practical work for a course, or whose final grade could not be determined within the grading period because they are scheduled to take a make-up exam, are assigned an ?E? grade. A student who receives an ?E? grade must complete any missing work, if any, and take the make-up exam no later than ten days after the grades are posted. Any decision to extend this period is made by the relevant unit?s administrative board. E grades that are not extended by a decision of the department?s administrative board or replaced with another grade within fifteen days automatically convert to an F1. An ?S? grade is assigned for internships or practical courses taken outside the academic semester calendar. This grade must be converted to one of the passing grades by a decision of the departmental board no later than the end of the add/drop period of the following academic semester. For each course, one of the following letters is assigned to students as a passing grade. The letters and their corresponding grade point values are as follows:
