Learning Outcomes

At the end of this course, the students;

  1. Explain the historical development, fundamental components, and operating principles of auditory implant systems.
  2. Explain the relationship between auditory implantation and neural plasticity, as well as the impact of this relationship on auditory rehabilitation outcomes.
  3. Compare the structural and technical characteristics of cochlear implant electrode designs.
  4. Explain the fundamental principles of sound processing strategies used in cochlear implant systems and the differences in how auditory information is encoded.
  5. Interpret the indications for cochlear implantation, as well as the characteristics and clinical outcomes of bilateral implantation.
  6. Explain the key stages of cochlear implant surgery, surgical approaches, and factors influencing the implantation process.
  7. Interpret the fundamental parameters used in cochlear implant programming and their effects on auditory perception.
  8. Compare the operating principles, technical specifications, and indications of bone-implanted hearing systems, middle ear implants, and auditory brainstem implants.
  9. Evaluate the indications, advantages, and limitations of various auditory implant systems using clinical examples.
