Course DescriptionThis course explores the relationship between film and other art forms (theatre, painting, sculpture, photography, music, video art). As a product of modernity, film initially presented itself as both a threat and a challenge to other art forms. Situated on the border between art and industry, and possessing its own unique language, film struggled to fully establish itself as an art form. Its emergence and evolution have continued to raise theoretical issues central to the evaluation of any artistic practice, such as representation, expression, and the relationship between art and reality. In this context, the course aims to critically examine the connection between films and other arts in terms of form, narrative structure, technology, art movements, and periods.
