Course DescriptionThis course aims to examine cinematic practices from different countries and cultures in the post-1980 period within their historical, aesthetic, and socio-political contexts. Within the framework of globalization, transnational cinema, identity politics, and emerging narrative forms, selected examples from European, Asian, Middle Eastern, Latin American, and African cinemas are analyzed. Throughout the course, students develop the ability to evaluate the transformation of various national cinema traditions, independent film movements, new wave currents, and the impact of digital technologies on film production. In addition, through the use of film analysis methodologies, critical readings are conducted in terms of narrative structure, visual style, and thematic content. The course aims to enable students to develop a comparative perspective on contemporary world cinema and to understand the global diversity of cinema as a form of cultural expression.
