Learning Outcomes

At the end of this course, the students;

  1. Relates the amplitude, period, velocity, and acceleration magnitudes of an object undergoing simple harmonic motion to the oscillatory motion of the wave.
  2. Defines the characteristic properties of sound waves (frequency, period, amplitude, wavelength, wave speed, phase) and illustrates these properties by plotting them on a graph (waveform or phase/amplitude spectrum).
  3. It defines the concept of resonance and relates it to the anatomy of the ear.
  4. Performs logarithmic sound pressure level (SPL) calculations using the concept of the decibel.
  5. Performs mathematical calculations regarding the types of resonators formed by sound waves in various systems (closed-open, closed-closed, and open-open ends).
  6. Can define the function of Fourier analysis used in the analysis of complex waves and classify complex wave types as periodic (square, triangle, sawtooth, pulse train, etc.) and aperiodic (transients).
  7. Draws phasor diagrams by relating acoustic impedance and its associated concepts (resistance, mass reactance, and stiffness reactance) to the anatomical structure of the ear, and explains?through mathematical derivation?which component becomes dominant in the system at low and high frequencies.
  8. Ses filtrelerinin temel özellikleri farklı filtre türleri (yüksek geçiş, alçak geçiş, bant geçiş, bant reddetme) için grafik üzerinde çizilerek gösterilir.
  9. Explains the amplitude, frequency, and intermodulation distortions occurring in sound waves.
  10. Analyzes the parameters affecting the reverberation time in room acoustics (in environments containing surfaces that reflect, diffuse, and absorb sound waves).
  11. Establishes a relationship between physical quantities (sound pressure, wave frequency) and individuals' perception of these quantities (loudness, pitch).
