Learning Outcomes

At the end of this course, the students;

  1. Will have knowledge of the basic principles of solid-state welding methods.
  2. Will identify different solid-state welding methods and their applications.
  3. Will plan a simple solid-state welding application by determining welding parameters.
  4. Will apply occupational health and safety rules during welding operations.

Course DescriptionThis course covers the fundamental principles, application areas, and technological characteristics of solid-state welding methods. The course examines the classification of welding methods, heat transfer mechanisms, diffusion welding, friction welding, friction stir welding, explosive welding, ultrasonic welding, and high-frequency welding methods. In addition, alternative joining techniques such as metal bonding and thermal spraying, the determination of welding parameters, the equipment used, and application conditions are addressed. Supported by occupational health and safety, occupational diseases, and safe work practices in welding processes, the course aims to enable students to recognize different solid-state welding methods, select the appropriate method, and evaluate the application processes.
