| Course Description | This course covers the basic principles and applications of thermal cutting and heat treatment methods used in the forming of metallic materials and the enhancement of their properties. The course addresses cutting methods such as oxy-fuel, plasma, laser, and waterjet cutting, including their principles, equipment, applications, and comparative evaluations. In addition, heat treatment processes such as hardening, annealing, tempering, and surface hardening, as well as the iron-carbon phase diagram, phase transformations, heating and cooling conditions, and heat treatments applied to welded components are examined. The course aims to equip students with the skills to determine appropriate cutting and heat treatment methods for different materials, evaluate the results of these applications, and analyze their effects on material properties. |
