Learning Outcomes

At the end of this course, the students;

  1. Adopt the systems analysis approach in water resources planning and management; formulate problems mathematically by defining project objectives, decision variables, and system constraints,
  2. Perform benefit-cost analysis in water resources projects using engineering economy principles and evaluate economic efficiency,
  3. Determine the optimum solution in water allocation, reservoir sizing, and capacity planning problems using Linear Programming and classical derivative-based optimization methods,
  4. Incorporate hydrological and economic uncertainties into the system using principles of probability theory; perform trade-off analyses in multi-purpose (energy, irrigation, flood protection) projects.
