Course Description

This course aims to provide students with visual storytelling skills by teaching basic photography concepts, camera settings and composition techniques in practice. At the end of the course, students will be able to take creative and aesthetically strong photographs with the knowledge and experience they have gained.

Course Contents

1^st Week	Week 1: Course description. Explanation of course content and objectives, course structure, and introduction of materials.
2^nd Week	Week 2: Definition of photography. An overview of the history of photography.
3^rd Week	Week 3: Definition of a camera. Its parts and uses.
4^th Week	Week 4: Lenses. The importance of a lens for a camera and the resulting image.
5^th Week	Week 5: Shutter and aperture concepts and functions.
6^th Week	Week 6: Shutter and aperture concepts and functions.
7^th Week	Week 7: Sensitive materials used in photography: Film and sensors.
8^th Week	Week 8: Project and homework checks.
9^th Week	Week 9: Differences between film and digital cameras, basic concepts. The concept of ISO.
10^th Week	Week 10: Information on light. Effective use of light in photography.
11^th Week	Week 11: Light meters.
12^th Week	Week 12: Flashes, reflectors. Using bounce flash.
13^th Week	Week 13: Composition in photography. Basic elements of composition.
14^th Week	Week 14: Composition in photography. Basic elements of composition. Week 15: Mobile photography. Project and assignment submissions.
