Ph.D. on International Relations

The initiative to establish a PhD Program in International Relations within the Institute of European Union and International Relations at Başkent University is based on the observation that the transformations Turkey?s foreign policy has undergone in recent years have both increased interest in international relations and generated a growing need for scholarly research and scientific knowledge on these developments. Building on this observation, the proposed PhD program aims to produce scientific knowledge that enhances the capacity to ?understand,? ?explain,? ?analyze,? and ?evaluate? international relations through comparative and/or theoretical perspectives. It seeks to train future scholars capable of producing theses and research that make internationally recognized and substantive contributions to the discipline of international relations. In doing so, the program aims to strengthen human capital in the field and contribute to the further development of the discipline of international relations in Türkiye.
