Learning Outcomes

At the end of this course, the students;

  1. Will be able to comment about neural cell structure and function, intracellular and intercellular signal systems, brain and spinal cord organization.
  2. Comprehend about the neural mechanism that forms the basis of emotions, thoughts and behaviors.
  3. Will be able to explain the neural basis of processing sensory information and generating motor response.
  4. Will be able to discuss the relationships between nerve cells in different regions of the brain and cognitive processes.
  5. Can discuss about how neuroscience and neurobiology topics explain social behavior.

Course DescriptionThis course involves the structure and the function of the nervous system and the effects of this system on the human psychological functions. The neural cell structure and its function, the intracellular and intercellular signal systems, the structural organization of the brain and spinal cord are topics that will be covered in the course. Moreover, the students will learn about the basis of neural processing of sensory information and the production of motor response and the higher human psychological functions such as perception, attention, learning, memory, emotion, decision making and social behavior. Lastly, the sufficiency of neuroscience and neurobiology in explaining the social behavior will be discussed.
