Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading

The evaluation criteria in the program are structured primarily around theoretical courses, laboratory work, and practical work. For each course, at least one midterm exam and one final exam are administered each semester. Depending on the nature of the course, the instructor may assign teaching activities such as quizzes, homework, projects, fieldwork, etc., during the semester. Instructors are free to adjust the weightings of midterm exams, final exams, quizzes, projects, and similar activities when evaluating student performance. For each course, students are assigned one of the following letter grades. The letter grades and their corresponding point values are as follows:

Students who have incomplete practical work in a course or whose final grade could not be determined within the grading period because they are scheduled to take a make-up exam are assigned an ?E? grade. A student who receives an ?E? grade must complete any missing work, if applicable, and take the make-up exam no later than ten days after the grades are posted. Any decision to extend this period is made by the relevant unit?s administrative board. Grades of ?E? that are not extended by a decision of the unit?s administrative board within fifteen days, or for which no other grade is assigned, automatically convert to an ?F1.? A grade of ?S? is assigned for internships or practical courses conducted outside the academic semester calendar. This grade must be converted to one of the standard grades by a decision of the unit?s administrative board no later than the end of the add-drop period of the following academic semester.
