About the Programme
General Information
The aim of the Department of Insurance at Başkent University is to meet the growing demand for well-educated and qualified professionals in Türkiye's rapidly developing insurance sector and to educate individuals equipped with the knowledge and skills required by the profession.
In line with the vision and mission of Başkent University and based on the aforementioned objectives, the Department of Insurance offers a four-year undergraduate program. Although the language of instruction is Turkish, foreign language education continues throughout the program to ensure that students acquire the language proficiency necessary to maintain professional communication in the international insurance industry.
In addition, throughout the four-year education period, educational and practical support is provided through collaborations with insurance companies, insurance agents' associations, and the Republic of Türkiye Ministry of Treasury and Finance, with the aim of enhancing students' professional knowledge and experience. Furthermore, seminars and conferences are regularly organized with the participation of senior executives and experts from the insurance sector, enabling students to benefit from their professional knowledge and experience.
To reinforce theoretical knowledge through practical experience, the curriculum includes a mandatory 30-working-day summer internship. In addition, as an integral component of the program, students participate in Workplace Training (Industry-Based Professional Education) during the 8th semester for one academic term (14 weeks). During this period, students receive hands-on professional training in insurance companies, insurance agencies, brokerage firms, and other relevant institutions. Both the mandatory summer internship and the Workplace Training program constitute essential components of the practice-oriented curriculum, enabling students to gain valuable industry experience and develop their professional competencies prior to graduation.
