Learning Outcomes

At the end of this course, the students;

explains the conceptual and theoretical foundations of addiction.
Explains the causal and interactional characteristics of developmental, neurobiological, learning-based and social processes in the formation, prevention and intervention of addictions.
Uses the approaches, principles and techniques required by his/her professional role and individual responsibilities in the prevention and intervention of addiction.
Knows the importance and necessity of teamwork consisting of different disciplines in research and implementation (protection-prevention-intervention) studies related to addictions, in line with national policies and strategies, and takes responsibility in planning and execution.

Course Description

In this lesson; basic concepts, definitions and theoretical explanations about addiction; Types of addiction; Causes and consequences of addiction, Risk factors, Protective factors, Educational environments, Prevention and Intervention processes, re-adaptation process; Communication skills in addiction prevention and intervention, national policy and strategy methods in the fight against addiction, interdisciplinary studies and team work on addiction are included.
