At the end of this course, the students;
- Explains in detail the biology, classification, life cycles, and molecular mechanisms of host?phage interactions of bacteriophages.
- Plans and performs the fundamental laboratory methods used for the isolation, purification, propagation, characterization, and titer determination of bacteriophages.
- Analyzes the biophysical, morphological, and genomic characteristics of bacteriophages using experimental and bioinformatics approaches and interprets the obtained data
- Evaluates the biomedical and biotechnological applications of bacteriophages, including bacterial identification, biocontrol, phage therapy, and phage?antibiotic combinations, based on scientific evidence.
- Analyzes current research topics, including phage resistance development, phage-encoded virulence factors, and phage lysins, and relates them to the scientific literature.
- Designs bacteriophage research experiments, evaluates the obtained results in accordance with scientific ethical principles, and applies them in research processes
