Course DescriptionBehavior Genetics course presents an interdisciplinery area in the interception of genetics and psychology. The major aim of the course is to explain the effect of genes on human behavior. To this end, the course initially introduces the methods and models of the Behavior Genetics research. It continues with the genetic mechanisms underlying the psychological processes such as cognitive processes, language, personality, sexual orientation. The course additionally focuses on the genetic factors behind psychopathologies such as mood disorders, schizophrenia, substance abuse etc. The course content sheds light into the nature versus nurture controversy in psychological processes by a physiological approach.
