Learning Outcomes

At the end of this course, the students;

Understands the historical development of documentary filmmaking and the ethical principles and guidelines that should be followed when making documentaries.
Understand how to put the theoretical knowledge they have learned into practice and effectively use audiovisual materials when developing projects.
Become proficient in the terminology required by the profession.
Explains the methods of researching, writing text, designing and shooting a documentary film.
Masters the aesthetic perspective and analyzes the elements related to documentary film from a critical perspective.

Course Description

This course aims to examine the historical development, fundamental genres, and visual narrative forms of documentary film through both theoretical and practical approaches. The course covers documentary production processes, research methods, script development, shooting planning, and the concept of reality. Different documentary narrative styles are also analyzed through film examples. By the end of the course, students are expected to understand the basic dynamics of documentary storytelling and develop short documentary projects.
