At the end of this course, the students;

  1. Know the content and scope of the Social Studies curriculum.
  2. Use methods and techniques to support primary school Social Studies course.
  3. Know and applies value education approaches in primary school Social Studies course.
  4. Use the appropriate materials in lesson plans in accordance with the objectives of the Social Studies course in primary school.
  5. Design an appropriate lesson in the light of all the information gained by using the achievements of the Social Studies course in primary school.

Course DescriptionStudents taking this course are expected to effectively plan and implement the primary school Social Studies course. Course content includes the characteristics of Social Studies area, basic characteristics and skills of Social Studies, the themes and areas in Social Studies teaching, history and place of Social Studies in primary education, examination of Social Studies Curriculum (standard, skill, theme etc.); strategies, methods, techniques and materials used in Social Studies, the sample implementations for Social Studies; Social Studies Course Books, democracy education in Social Studies course.
