Learning Outcomes

At the end of this course, the students;

  1. By learning the ways in which the concepts of space and perception are approached in different disciplines, examines and evaluates the relationship between these two concepts in the context of architectural design research.
  2. By gaining the basic knowledge of the cognitive and behavior theories, examines the perception of space in architecture through cognitive and behavioral processes.
  3. Reviewes the relationship between the space and the subject with different levels and approaches and evaluates them in architectural analysis and architectural design methods.
  4. Gains new perspectives for architectural theory and practice by developing interdisciplinary research and thinking skills.

Course DescriptionThis course aims to examine the perception of space through cognitive and behavioral processes by examining the notions of space and perception and how these are approached in different disciplines and theories. By discussing the relationship between the space and the subject with a phenomenological approach, it aims to evaluate the experience and perception in the context of architecture; thus, to contribute to students' architectural design methods.
