Learning Outcomes

At the end of this course, the students;

  1. Identifies, classifies, and analyzes the structural elements that make up vertical circulation and roof systems.
  2. Understands the load-bearing principles and structural behavior of stair and roof systems.
  3. Design reinforced concrete and steel stair systems with appropriate material, system, and detail decisions.
  4. Conceptualize different roof systems (flat, suspended, truss, terrace) in accordance with their structural logic.
  5. Express structural elements of stair and roof systems accurately and clearly in accordance with architectural and technical principles.

Course DescriptionThis course examines vertical circulation and roof systems in architecture within the context of structural elements and load-bearing systems. Within the scope of the course, ramps, stairs, elevators, and different roof systems (flat, suspended, truss, terrace) are studied in relation to architectural design decisions, along with their structural principles, material properties, and load-bearing behavior. Theoretical explanations, supported by technical drawings and model studies, aim to develop students' ability to design stair and roof systems at an architectural level and to express them correctly and clearly.
