  1. Learn the process of Turkey-EU integration
  2. Learn Turkey EU relations starting from the Ottoman Empire until today
  3. Elaborate the accession negotiations.
  4. Evaluate the relations on a scientific basis.
  5. Get into contact with stakeholders via the interviews they conduct.

Course DescriptionTurkey-European Union relations have been tested through different policy and diplomatic avenues and have continued to the present day. Starting in 1963 with the Ankara Treaty, relations have continued with the Additional Protocol, the Customs Union, the candidate country status and finally the start of negotiations. The progress of relations has been interrupted from time to time by national and regional problems. Within the Union, attitudes towards Turkey have varied from time to time, leading both sides to question their faith in the process over time. In this context, the course Turkey-European Union Integration aims to examine the basic objectives of the European Union during its establishment, the changes it has experienced in the process, and the common policies pursued through the institutions created. The multidimensional examination of the Union will enable a more accurate discussion of the relations with Turkey.
