Course DescriptionThis course aims to provide historical and critical overview of the dynamics of confrontation and prospects for cooperation in Turkish-Greek relations. It also covers one of the main issues in Turkish foreign policy namely the Cyprus problem. The main objective is to analyze relations between Turkey and Greece with a particular focus on the Cyprus problem. Following a historical background of Turkish-Greek relations, the students are introduced to the areas of confrontation between the two, including the disputes in the Aegean, the Cyprus problem and the minority issue, as well as the role of third parties. Building on this extensive background information, the course will focus on the contemporary developments in both Turkish-Greek relations and Cyprus in order to examine the possibilities for reconciliation and settlement.
