Course DescriptionFeminism and gender studies have a long history that has made them deepen and comprehensive. On the other hand, having a pro-feminist perspective and elaborating what is the relationship between masculinity(ies), gender, and patriarchy, masculinity studies can be seen as a newcomer of the interdisciplinary studies. Masculinity studies share the basic motives of feminism; gender is a socially constructed entity, sex is not (only) biological, patriarchy and masculinities have close relationships, etc. Through gender rules, patriarchy, ethnicity, class, hegemony, hierarchy, homo-sexuality, hetero-sexism, religion, family, and other components of the masculinities, masculinity studies have tried to seek different relations, different faces, different performances, and discourses of masculinity.
