Learning Outcomes

At the end of this course, the students;

Explains the historical development of Turkish language teaching within the framework of Ottoman Turkish sources.
Compares the teaching methods and techniques used in historical Turkish language teaching resources with contemporary approaches to Turkish language teaching.
Evaluates texts written in the Ottoman Turkish alphabet from the perspective of Turkish language teaching.
Using the existing literature, they plan and conduct scholarly research on the history of Ottoman Turkish language teaching.
Interprets historical teaching materials in line with the current Turkish language teaching curriculum and skill-based approach.

1^st Week	The historical development of Turkish language instruction: From early periods to the Ottoman Empire
2^nd Week	The Ottoman education system, sıbyan schools, madrasas, and Turkish language instruction
3^rd Week	The Ottoman Turkish alphabet and the teaching of writing: The Elifba tradition
4^th Week	Early Turkish language teaching resources prepared using the Ottoman Turkish alphabet
5^th Week	Early Turkish language teaching resources prepared using the Ottoman Turkish alphabet
6^th Week	Reading textbooks and the teaching of reading
7^th Week	Grammar instruction in morphology and syntax textbooks
8^th Week	MIDTERM EXAM
9^th Week	Dictionaries and the teaching of vocabulary
10^th Week	Post-Tanzimat Turkish language teaching resources and the modernization process
11^th Week	Works prepared in Ottoman Turkish for teaching the language to foreigners
