Course DescriptionThis course focuses on the film industry as a central case to examine creative industries and the creative economy from a critical perspective, while providing a practical framework for students who aim to build careers in these fields. Students explore key concepts such as creative industries, creative labour, creative cities, cultural policy and creative management through examples from the film sector, questioning the dialectical relationship between management and creativity. The course concentrates on how innovative ideas, talents, practical skills and entrepreneurial attitudes in audiovisual cultural production intersecting with digital technologies can be transformed into concrete projects; alongside theoretical discussions, contemporary industry examples and the case?based examination of small?scale film?focused project development practices are used to foster a critical yet practice?oriented understanding of socio?economic positioning, demand, industrial production and consumption dynamics in film and creative cultural industries.
