Course Description

At the end of this course, students will recognize welding defects and learn the methods used for their detection.

Course Contents

1^st Week	Introduction of welding defects.
2^nd Week	Cracks
3^rd Week	Gas porosities, inclusions, lack of penetration, and insufficient fusion.
4^th Week	Gas porosities, inclusions, lack of penetration, and insufficient fusion.
5^th Week	Segregations and external surface defects.
6^th Week	Non-destructive testing methods applied to welded areas.
7^th Week	Non-destructive testing methods applied to welded areas.
8^th Week	Midtherm Exam
9^th Week	Visual inspection, penetrant liquid testing, and magnetic particle inspection.
10^th Week	Radiographic testing, ultrasonic testing, and microscopic examination.
11^th Week	Destructive testing methods applied to welded areas.
12^th Week	Tensile and bending tests.
13^th Week	Notch impact and hardness tests
14^th Week	Fatigue testing
