  1. Learn the historical development of guidance and psycohological counseling (GPC).
  2. Know the basic concepts and principles of GPC.
  3. Distinguish and explain different types of services in GPC.
  4. Explain GPC services in special education.
  5. Know the organization of GPC service in schools.

Course DescriptionBasic concepts and principles of GPC (Guidance and Psychological Counseling), history of GPC, fields and branches, research methods, process of psychological counseling, psychological counseling theories, school counseling models (traditional and developmental), school counseling approaches (crisis-oriented, healing, preventive and developmental), purposes of the traditional school counseling model, principles, roles and functions of traditional school counseling; purpose, principles, programs, services, interventions of the developmental school counseling (Comprehensive Developmental Counseling Programs), roles and functions of developmental school counseler, purposes and principles of the developmental and preventive approach in GPC; importance of the education of basic life skills in developmental approach, developing positive youth development approaches, and levels of prevention in preventive approach (basic, second and third levels).
