At the end of this course, the students;

  1. Knows the importance of Turkish Art History.
  2. Comprehends the role of art history in realizing the culture and the importance roots of Turkish Art.
  3. Differentiates between the manner of particular characteristics of Turkish art according to periods.
  4. Discusses about Hun Art, Gokturk Monument and Uyghur Art.
  5. Analyzes the difference between the styles and stylized according to cultural characteristics of every period.
  6. Analyzes the painting, sculpture and arthitectural characteristics of pre and post-Republican period.

Course DescriptionArt styles from Hun Art to Gokturk, Uyghur, Karahanlı, Gazneli, Great Seljuk, Anatolian Seljuk, Beylik and Ottoman period; the examples of architecture, sculpture and painting belonging to these periods are examined comparatively; starting from the Republican Period Art, today's Turkish art works and artists.

3rd Week Göktürk Monuments and cultural characteristics.
4th Week Research Homework: The history of alphabets and history of writing/design of writingthat Turks used

6th Week The arrival of Turks into Anatolia, the beylics they founded and cultural characteristics
7th Week The arrival of Turks into Anatolia, the beylics they founded and cultural characteristics
8th Week The arrival of Turks into Anatolia, the beylics they founded and cultural characteristics
9th Week Midterm
10th Week The manner of art of Ottoman Empire, branches and cultural characteristics
11th Week The manner of art of Ottoman Empire, branches and cultural characteristics
12th Week The manner of art of Ottoman Empire, branches and cultural characteristics
13th Week Art-Sculpture and Architecture of Republican period.
14th Week Discussion about general characteristics of arts of Pre and Post Republican period and glance of today and the future.
