Course Description

Developing ten-finger F-keyboard typing skills through laboratory practice; acquiring the ability to type quickly and accurately using proper technique, and to format professional correspondence.

Course Contents

WEEK	TOPICS
1^st Week	Reviewing keyboarding techniques, determining speed levels, and performing sample exercises.
2^nd Week	Conducting speed and dictation exercises under timed conditions.
3^rd Week	Introduction to word processing software; configuring page settings, paragraph spacing, and line spacing; and commencing formatted text exercises.
4^th Week	Formatted text exercises and sample applications.
5^th Week	Exercises in accurately and rapidly typing formatted text samples within a set timeframe.
6^th Week	Practicing rapid typing using correct techniques and performing dictation exercises.
7^th Week	Analyzing error types and evaluation methods; calculating speed; conducting 1, 3, and 5-minute speed tests.
8^th Week	Midterm Exam I
9^th Week	Timed text exercises and speed tests.
10^th Week	Formatted text exercises.
11^th Week	Exercises to increase speed and accuracy; conducting speed tests.
12^th Week	Typing and dictation exercises in a foreign language.
13^th Week	Midterm Exam II
14^th Week	Working with different software applications.
