Learning Outcomes

At the end of this course, the students;

  1. Describe the possible causes of the plate movements, plate boundaries and elastic rebound theory,
  2. Explain the occurrence of earthquakes, concepts of seismic forces and distinguishing between earthquake magnitude and earthquake damage,
  3. Analyze the elastic and inelastic dynamic behavior of single-degree of freedom structural systems subjected to earthquake loading,
  4. Analyze the elastic dynamic behavior of multi-degree of freedom structural systems subjected to earthquake loading,
  5. Design earthquake resistant R/C buildings by using Response Spectrum Analysis and Response History Analysis Methods based on seismic design code regulations.
