At the end of this course, the students;
- Derive the general equation of gradually varied flow (GVF), define channel slope types, and classify GVF profiles,
- Analyze different open-channel flow conditions by solving GVF equations using numerical and graphical methods,
- Explain the characteristics of rapidly varied flows and evaluate the operating principles of hydraulic jumps, spillways, and stilling basins,
- Explain discharge and velocity measurement methods in open channels and apply sharp-crested, short-crested, and broad-crested weirs in engineering applications.
