Learning Outcomes

At the end of this course, the students;

  1. Identify common durability problems in building materials,
  2. Explain the mechanisms behind common durability problems (e.g., corrosion, freeze-thaw, chemical attack, biological decay),
  3. Hypothesize likely causes of observed deterioration and propose practical remedies/prevention strategies,
  4. Interpret relevant durability standards and tests and use test results to judge performance,
  5. Apply durability knowledge to select appropriate materials and protection systems for specific exposure conditions in buildings/products.
Mode of DeliveryFace to face
