  1. Have knowledge about the overall procedures in the university, faculty and department; and about academic and administrative issues related to the students, as well
  2. To be able to identify, define and scope engineering problems
  3. To understand integrated and interdiciplinary charcterstics of modern day engineering
  4. To understand ethical issues in engineering practice
  5. To be able to identify current problems faced by humanity and to be able to understand the impact of those problems on engineering
  6. To understand basic concepts of Industrial Engineering

Course DescriptionA brief introduction to University, Faculty and Department. An overview of the academic rules and regulations. Evolution of science and technology and the development of Industrial Engineering discipline. Major areas of concentration in Industrial Engineering. The similarities and differences between Industrial and other engineering disciplines. Engineering ethics and the social responsibility. Contemporary problems faced by the mankind and potential engineering solutions.

2nd Week The regulations, directives, and procedures of University and Faculty / Delivery of the project topics.
3rd Week The concepts of knowledge, science and occupation. What is Industrial Engineering? Problem solving techniques and strategies in engineering
4th Week Paper plane project
5th Week Team study - Paper plane project
6th Week Review of the results - Paper plane project
7th Week Library workshop - Visit to Industrial Engineering Labs.
8th Week Midterm Exam
9th Week Ethical issues in engineering practice and social responsibility
10th Week Contemporary Issues in engineering
