Course DescriptionThe purpose of this course is to teach the students about diagnosis of acute respiratory failure, clinical findings, differentiation according to types, patient management and treatment. They will be able to recognize ARDS, know and direct emergency response. Recognize non-ARDS acute pulmonary edema and manage its treatment. Have information about the diseases and treatments frequently encountered in patients with acute respiratory failure who are admitted to intensive care from the emergency department or who develop acute respiratory failure in the intensive care unit. They will be able to perform arterial blood gas analysis to determine invasive and non-invasive (CPAP, BIPAP modes) mechanical ventilation indications and weaning (extubation) criteria of patients with respiratory failure in intensive care unit.
