At the end of this course, the students;

  1. Explains the basic components of the cell and the function of each organelle that makes up the cell.
  2. Explains the structural features and functions of epithelial tissue.
  3. Explains the structural features and functions of connective and supportive tissue.
  4. Explains the structural features and functions of muscle tissue.

Course DescriptionDuring the course, microscope types, histological examination methods: tissue processing, histochemical methods, immunohistochemical techniques were introduced and visual experience of students to recognize these samples prior to practical work was achieved. Culture techniques and environment were introduced to understand why and when these are used together with stem cell concept as a clinical application sample. Covers introduction to structural organisation of basic tissues, structural and functional properties of epithelial, connective, cartilage, bone, muscle, nevre tissues and skin at microcopic and molecular level. In practical hours cells and other components of the tissues are recognized under microscope via direct examination.
