Course Description

Tonality: Degree recognition, modulation. Scales with a single sharp/flat. Church modes. Triads.

Course Contents

WEEK	TOPICS
1^st Week	Introduction: General information / Recognizing harmonic intervals.
2^nd Week	Recognizing degrees within tonality.
3^rd Week	Modulation to dominant and subdominant tonalities.
4^th Week	Syncopation, tie.
5^th Week	Recognizing and identifying all intervals within the octave.
6^th Week	Tonalities with single sharp/flat: Dictation and reading, playing scale and cadence.
7^th Week	Church modes.
8^th Week	Midterm Exam.
9^th Week	Transposition to different keys.
10^th Week	Recognizing triads.
11^th Week	Two-part reading (1).
12^th Week	Two-part reading (2). Tonalities with two sharps/flats: Dictation and reading, playing scale and cadence.
13^th Week	Recognizing the first and second inversions of triads.
14^th Week	Reading with key modulations / Closing: General review, assessment.
