At the end of this course, the students;
- know the extraction identification and quantitative methodss of volatile oils, volatile and nonvolatile secondary metabolites from medicinal plants and/or raw drugs important for human health.
- learn the chromatographic and spectroscopic methods used for volatile oils and total secondary metabolites and gain the experience of analytic research.
- Can perform purification and quantitation of individual natural secondary metabolites
- know how to search the properties of volatile oils and secondary metabolites written in Pharmacopeia and monographs and bring the data as a report to authorities.
- Have enough information on the safe and proper concentration and usage of the herbal preparations containing secondary metabolites and volatile oils used in phytotherapy, aronmatherapy and cosmetology.

| Recommended Optional Programme Components | |
| Course Description | Students experimentally learn the extraction methods, qualitative and quantitative methods for some important secondary metabolites in the given herbal medicine materials and compare the results with those of samples used in aromatherapy and phytotherapy theoretically. Analysis done with pharmacopeial methods will let them to get information on the requirements of herbal medicines for pharmaceutical usage. |
