Course DescriptionThe aim of this course is to teach the taxonomic and morphological classification of the major fungi which are important for human health, to be able to define the basic concepts of mycology, to elucidate the structure of fungi in detail and to learn macroscopic, microscopic and metabolic properties, to learn the fungal toxins and the clinical features of fungal infections, antifungal drugs and their effects and resistance mechanisms. The general principles of antifungal susceptibility tests applied in the laboratory are aimed to define, apply and evaluate the results of these tests.
