Students will deeply study the foundational figures of modern and postmodern dance (Martha Graham, Merce Cunningham, Pina Bausch, etc.) and their respective movement philosophies, simultaneously acquiring the ability to analyze the cultural, social, and political contexts of these works. The course provides critical analysis tools such as choreographic structure, use of space, relationship with music, and audience interpretation.
