Learning Outcomes

At the end of this course, the students;

Practices correct periodontal instrumentation and patient positioning and operator's posture during periodontal treatmentLearn and practice correct periodontal instrumentation positions for physician and patient
Defines periodontal tissue examination
Lists the purpose of use of the mirror
Lists and perform the use of periodontal probes
Collects periodontal data on the on typodont and phantom model, creates a periodontal index form, analyzes existing data
Uses calculus scalers and curettes for calculus removal and root surface corrections cleaning without causing any damage to the tissues.
Uses special hand tools for the right and left upper jaw regions for its intended purpose.
Uses special hand tools for the right and left lower jaw regions for its intended purpose.

Course Description

The goal of the course is to prepare the student for the complex task of performing periodontal procedures on a clinical level in the light of principal periodontology knowledge.

1^st Week	Demonstration of periodontal instruments and identification of periodontal tissues
2^nd Week	Scaling in the right upper jaw on typodont and manikin
3^rd Week	Scaling in the left upper jaw on typodont and manikin
4^th Week	Scaling on the right lower jaw on typodont and manikin
5^th Week	Scaling in the left lower jaw on typodont and manikin
