Course DescriptionMore and more academic texts are produced every day. On the other hand, the fact that the quantitative increase in the texts does not progress in direct proportion to the increase in quality is one of the most current problems of the Turkish academy. Hence, this course is designed to serve the development of the qualitative aspect of academic writing. To achieve this aim, the other elements of academic writing, such as academic reading, academic literature review, academic thinking, and other types of writing (for example, literature, letter, essay, science fiction, etc.) and the differences between them will be the subject of the course. Another important issue, as well as academic writing and thinking, is the way of presentation of these academic writings and thoughts. Explaining the basic forms of academic presentation by going through topics such as form, content, and context will be another main topic of this course.
