At the end of this course, the students;

Will be able to describe and use the consept of culture, sources and elements of culture,
Will be able to determine the place of Cultural Transfer in language teaching
Will be able to analyse the importance of the band between languge and culture
Will be able to critically evaluate texts that will convey cultures
will be able to make comparisons between different languages and cultures

Course Description

Basic concepts about language and culture; cultural resources and elements; oral and written culture; material and spiritual culture; culture from individual and social aspects; culture as binder and disintegrant; cultivation, culture, cultural expansion and harmony; culture in terms of cognitive, symbolic, structural-functional approaches; language as a system of symbols; language and language acquisition from an individual perspective; the effect of language on human consciousness; the relationship between culture, language, cognition and reality; the function of language in conveying knowledge and culture, in establishing social relations and communication; development and transmission of language and culture; national identity and language; the dynamics of changes in language and culture; discussions of mutual interaction of culture and changes in the world; national cultures; globalization, multilingualism and multiculturalism.
