Course Description

Basic principles and concepts of textlinguistics (sentence, proposition, utterance, text and textuality criteria), text, discourse and text type classifications; linguistic aspects of text types; narrative discourse, narrative texts, speech act theory, text linguistic analysis and Turkish education.

Course Contents

1^st Week	Concept of text, classification of texts, text types.
2^nd Week	Basic principles and concepts of textlinguistics (sentence, proposition, utterance, discourse, text and textuality criteria).
3^rd Week	Basic principles and concepts of text linguistics (sentence, proposition, utterance, discourse, text and textuality criteria), Minor structure in the text, major structure, superstructure.
4^th Week	Small structure, large structure, superstructure in the text. Text and descriptive reading, analytical reading and interpretive reading.
5^th Week	Linguistic views of text types, text and discourse analysis.
6^th Week	Linguistic views of text types, text and discourse analysis.
7^th Week	Linguistic views of text types, text and discourse analysis.
8^th Week	Midterm Exam.
9^th Week	Linguistic views of text types, text and discourse analysis.
10^th Week	Linguistic views of text types, text and discourse analysis.
11^th Week	Linguistic views of text types, text and discourse analysis.
12^th Week	Linguistic views of text types, text and discourse analysis.
13^th Week	Speech act theory.
14^th Week	Narrative discourse, narrative texts and linguistic features; text analysis.
